Free TRIAL LESSON
We're so sure you'll love your music lessons at Baltimore School of Music, your first 15-minute lesson is on us. So come on in and meet with a teacher to talk about your goals, play an instrument, and get feedback about how to make your music lessons succeed.
Baltimore School of Music isn't like a traditional music school - we give you the flexibility needed to make music lessons a success. Since we don't operate on a semester schedule, you can start lessons anytime and you'll never be locked into a long-term contract. We even offer the ability to reschedule 4 lessons during the school year to accommodate busy schedules.
After your free trial lesson, you'll register for music lessons by filling out our one-page registration form. Registration secures the same day and time for your lesson each week with your teacher and enrolls you in automatic monthly billing. Music lessons are billed to a credit card on file on the 1st of each month based on the number of lessons occurring in that month. Students can stop lessons at the end of any month by submitting our online withdrawal form by the 15th.
All guitar lessons are taught as private, one-on-one music instruction and are available in lengths of 30, 45, and 60 minutes. We suggest kids and teenagers begin with 30-minute guitar lessons and progress to longer lengths as your teacher recommends. For adults who have some previous experience, we recommend starting with 45- or 60-minute lessons.
KIDS & TEENAGERS
As popular as the guitar is, it is not the easiest instrument for little fingers. Therefore, we recommend that students be at least 6 years old before starting guitar lessons and that the appropriate size guitar is purchased – either a 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 nylon string. We strive to make guitar lessons fun and engaging for younger students by adding in games, exercises, and songs suited for young kids.
Teenage guitar lessons emphasize music reading, right and left hand technique, and simple music theory.
We strive to create a fun and patient atmosphere for adults who are new to playing and performing music. Adult students who are new to guitar lessons begin with basic skills, such as music reading, sitting position, and right and left hand technique, before moving on to simple and fun songs. Most adult students are amazed to find how fun and quick it is to start playing the guitar when you have the right teacher and a great atmosphere!
We also welcome intermediate and advanced guitar students who are looking to advance their skills. Whether you need help with upper position reading, working on difficult repertoire, or are looking to improve technique and speed, our teachers will tailor lessons to each student’s individual needs.
