Our Story

Baltimore School of Music began as a passion project for Founder James Lowe while he was studying classical guitar performance. After moving to Baltimore, he noticed how few options there were for music education to the people of Baltimore and started teaching out of his apartment. After a while, he built up a large studio and began getting requests for lessons on other instruments, which gave him the idea to start the Baltimore School of Music in 2012.

Baltimore School of Music is so happy to announce Ms. Allison, a current member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, is a new violin and viola teacher at Baltimore School of Music!Ms. Allison is a current member of the Baltimore Symphony. Prior to joining the BSO, she was a violin fellow and co-concertmaster of the New World Symphony. Recent performances include playing with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the Bach Double Violin Concerto alongside Midori, playing with the National Tour of HADESTOWN, and soloing with the Count Basie Orchestra. Ms. Allison has been awarded fellowships to participate in summer festivals including the Music Academy of the West, Spoleto Festival USA, Aspen Music Festival and School, and the National Repertory Orchestra. Ms. Allison is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she studied with David Halen. Additional teachers include Stephen Majeske and Ida Bieler.Welcome, Ms. Allison!
