Free 30-minute TRIAL LESSON
We're so sure you'll love your music lessons at Baltimore School of Music, your first 30-minute lesson is on us. So come on in and meet with a teacher to talk about your goals, play an instrument, and get feedback about how to make your music lessons succeed.
Baltimore School of Music isn't like a traditional music school - we give you the flexibility needed to make music lessons a success. Since we don't operate on a semester schedule, you can start lessons anytime and you'll never be locked into a long-term contract. We even offer the ability to reschedule 4 lessons during the school year to accommodate busy schedules.
After your free 30-minute trial lesson, you'll register for music lessons by filling out our one-page registration form. Registration secures the same day and time for your lesson each week with your teacher and enrolls you in automatic monthly billing. Music lessons are billed to a credit card on file on the 1st of each month based on the number of lessons occurring in that month. Students can stop lessons at the end of any month by submitting our online withdrawal form by the 15th.
All saxophone lessons are taught as private, one-on-one music instruction and are available in lengths of 30, 45, and 60 minutes. We suggest kids and teenagers begin with 30-minute lessons and progress to longer lengths as your teacher recommends. For adults who have some previous experience, we recommend starting with 45- or 60-minute lessons.
Because each student is unique in their aspirations, lesson plans are tailored to each student by taking their goals, experience, and learning pace into consideration.
KIDS & TEENAGERS
Because of the size and demands of playing the saxophone, we recommend that students be at least 8 years old before starting lessons. Basics, including music reading, posture, and breath control, will be introduced to new students. Beginner teenage lessons will focus on fundamentals, while intermediate and advanced students will focus on improving repertoire and technique, including breath control and support, posture, tonal quality, finger dexterity, articulation, and hand position.
Students playing in school ensembles are encouraged to bring in their music to work on in lessons.
We welcome adults who have never played the saxophone to start music lessons. Beginning students focus on fundamentals, while intermediate and advanced students focus on improving repertoire and technique, including breath control and support, posture, tonal quality, finger dexterity, articulation, and hand position.
