“This BSO Family concert celebrates youth in music with a concert all about young performers, composers and young audiences.  The audience will dazzle in the delights of youth at its best and learn about the instrument families along the way.  Then, experience the orchestral adaptation of actor John Lithgow’s mesmerizing children’s book where the fickle, yet lovable Remarkable Farkle McBride brings the sounds and rhythms of the orchestra to life, dramatized by actors from the Baltimore School for the Arts.” Followed by a buffet lunch for all guests (at additional cost).

Join the SONAR New Music Ensemble (featuring BSM’s own Jennifer Hughson, woodwinds) for an exciting program; “Inspired by the eerie stories of Baltimore’s celebrated author Edgar Allen Poe, THE RAVEN AND OTHER TALES takes the audience into the dark and mysterious corners of Poe’s imagination.” Featuring “The Raven,” by Toshio Hosokawa, Madrigals by Carlo Gesualdo, and 2 world premieres by composers-in-residence Roger Zare and Michael Rickelton.

Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra (BSYO)

General Admission: $5-20 (advanced purchase, $25 cash at-door)

Launched in 2012, the BSYO comprises three orchestral ensembles of 200 of the region’s most talented young musicians. The BSYO serves as ensemble-in-residence at the state-of-the-art George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology in Towson, MD.
