Teresa Shirley-Quirk has over 30 years experience teaching all levels of cellists, from children to adults. She has been certified as a Suzuki instructor from the Chicago Suzuki Institute, and has been on the faculty of the Peabody Institute Preparatory Department and the Twigs Program of the Baltimore School for the Arts. On the college level, her students have been accepted to such prestigious institutions as Juilliard and Peabody.

Teresa has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a United States Fulbright Lectureship to restructure the string department of the National Conservatory of Guatemala. She has been a recording artist for Golden Strings of Hong Kong and First Impression Music in the U.S. (under the name Teresa Perez), and her recording Crossover Cello was named “Best New Recording” by Stereophile Magazine.

Co-founder of the Firelands Symphony School of the Arts (OH), now celebrating its 20th anniversary, Teresa has also been on the faculty of numerous colleges, including Heidelberg College (OH), Bethany College (WV), and West Liberty State College (WV). She has been the principal cellist of several orchestras, including the Wheeling Symphony (WV), the Conductor’s Institute Orchestra in residence at Bard (NY) & Hartt School of Music (CT), the Greenville Chamber Orchestra (SC), and the Filarmonica de Bogota in Colombia, South America.
