One-on-One Music Lessons
Meets Weekly
30-Minute, 45-Minute or 60-Minute Music Lessons
All clarinet lessons are taught as private, one-on-one music instruction and are available in lengths of 30, 45, and 60 minutes. We suggest kids and teenagers begin with 30-minute lessons and progress to longer lengths as your teacher recommends. For adults who have some previous experience, we recommend starting with 45- or 60-minute lessons.
CLARINET LESSONS FOR KIDS & TEENAGERS
Because of the demands of playing the clarinet, we recommend that students be at least 8 years old before starting lessons. Beginning students are first taught how to make a good solid tone on the mouthpiece and barrel. After obtaining a good sound and embouchure, students will move forward learning instrument assembly, hand placement, fingerings, music reading, posture, breath control, and more.
Students playing in school ensembles are encouraged to bring their music to work on during lessons.
CLARINET LESSONS FOR ADULTS
Don’t feel intimidated if you’ve never played a clarinet – we love new students! Beginning adult students learn the basics of playing the clarinet, while intermediate and advanced lessons focus on breath control and support, posture, tonal quality, finger dexterity, articulation, hand position, sound production, and music theory.
