Starting Age: 6 and Up
One-on-One Music Lessons
30-Minute, 45-Minute or 60-Minute Music Lessons
All percussion lessons are taught as private, one-on-one music instruction and are available in lengths of 30, 45, and 60 minutes. We suggest kids and teenagers begin with 30-minute lessons and progress to longer lengths as your teacher recommends. For adults who have some previous experience, we recommend starting with 45- or 60-minute lessons.
Percussion Lessons for Kids & Teenagers
Drum lessons for kids begin with a drum set or snare drum and focus on reading music notation, general technique, and percussion rudiments. Students are welcome to learn other percussion instruments, including hand percussion instruments, marimba, and vibraphone.
Students playing percussion in school ensembles are encouraged to bring their music to music lessons. Students who take music lessons in addition to school ensemble programs advance much faster than students who only participate in their school ensemble.
Percussion Lessons for Adults
Don’t feel intimidated if you’ve never played the drums! We love adult students who are just starting out. Beginner adult students focus on reading music, basic rhythms, drum set or instrument technique, and playing songs. Advanced adult students focus on advanced songs, rhythms, and techniques.
