TROMBONE LESSONS

Ages: 8-17 and Adults
Length: 30-, 45-, 60-minute
Meets: Weekly, scheduled individually

All trombone lessons are taught as private, one-on-one music instruction and are available in lengths of 30, 45, and 60 minutes. We suggest kids and teenagers begin with 30-minute lessons and progress to longer lengths as your teacher recommends. For adults who have some previous experience, we recommend starting with 45- or 60-minute lessons.

KIDS & TEENAGERS

Because of the size and demands of playing the trombone, we recommend that students be at least 8 years old before starting trombone lessons. Basics, including music reading, handling the instrument, and breath control, will be introduced to new students. Intermediate and advanced students focus on improving repertoire and technique, including breath control and support, posture, tonal quality, slide technique, and articulation.

Students playing in school ensembles are encouraged to bring in their music to work on in lessons.

ADULTS

We welcome adults who have never played the trombone to start music lessons! Beginning students focus on fundamentals, while intermediate and advanced students focus on improving repertoire and technique, including breath control and support, posture, tonal quality, slide technique, and articulation.

BOOKSTORE

Baltimore School of Music carries a limited selection of music lesson books and accessories for the convenience of our students. In line with being a mission-driven small business, a portion of all items sold in our bookstore goes towards music scholarships at the school. The bookstore is open to the public and students can even order books online and have them waiting when they arrive for their music lesson!
